Project Theme

The 'Greater Bay Area Inter-school Mathematical and Logical Thinking Challenge' is an annual event aimed at providing a platform for students who love mathematics to gather together and showcase their talent and intelligence. In this competition, students from various schools in the Greater Bay Area will compete publicly according to their school levels. They will face a series of mathematical challenges, including problems of varying difficulty levels and their corresponding solutions. These questions are designed to test students' mathematical knowledge, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities, while cultivating their spirit of continuous exploration and growth in the field of mathematics.

Target Participants

Students in grades four to six are studying the primary school mathematics curriculum in Hong Kong, and students from Mainland China are attending schools for Hong Kong residents.

Consists of Individual events and Inter-school events

Individual Events

There are three levels in total (Level 4, Level 5, and Level 6) for the primary school category. Parents or guardians recommend students to participate in the competition. Participants are required to answer a bilingual (Chinese-English) test paper. The scores are used for ranking in the "Individual Events" category, competing for individual awards.

Inter-school events

The competition is divided into primary school and secondary school categories, with a total of ten levels (six levels for primary school and four levels for secondary school). Schools recommend three students from each level to participate. Each representative must individually answer a bilingual (Chinese-English) test paper. The ranking in the "Inter-School Events" is calculated based on the total scores of each representative. The individual scores of each school's representatives are also used for ranking in the "Individual Events" category, competing for individual awards.

Competition Awards

According to the Student Generic Skills compiled by the Education Bureau, outstanding performers in various skill categories are identified. Based on the core skills of assessment and measurement, cognition, logic, problem-solving, conceptualization, deductive reasoning, and creativity, the following awards are selected: the Reasoning Excellence Award, the Intellectual Courage Problem-Solving Award, the Conceptualization Award, the Inference Master Award, the Creative Genius Award, and the Critical Thinking Award. Based on student performance, the awards are classified as follows: First Prize (top 5% of students), Second Prize (6%-15% of students), Third Prize (16%-25% of students), and the Learning Achievement Award for the most improved performance indicator.
